Coming soon: the launch of the 60-day public comme Coming soon: the launch of the 60-day public comment period for the draft of the 2025 Canadian Organic Standards!

This is a chance for organic operators and stakeholders to comment on proposed changes to the standards before they're finalized and published at the end of this year.

The Organic Federation of Canada will be breaking new ground this year by providing a document with rationales for each of the proposed changes to standards. And, the various working groups will be holding webinars outlining the proposed changes for their specific sections of the standards.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

Did you know that the term “organic” is a prot Did you know that the term “organic” is a protected label in British Columbia? Consumers need to know that the products they’re purchasing are truly organic—that they’ve been grown or made according to rigorous organic standards. Uncertified operators whose products carry the organic label could face penalties, including fines.

Some examples of misuse of the organic label by an uncertified operator include:

🍎 Using the word “organic” in marketing materials

🍎 Using the BCCOP logo and/or the Canada Organic logo

BC’s organic regulations are monitored and enforced on a complaint basis, so it’s up to you to help ensure the integrity of the organic label! 

If you’ve discovered a person or company who is falsely marketing their products as organic in British Columbia, get in touch with AgriService BC. They have a team of folks responsible for enforcing the regulations in various regions in the province.
